A controversy has erupted at Jaipur’s Maharani College after three shrines were discovered within the college premises, sparking allegations of an attempt to encroach on the institution’s land.
Bharat Sharma, Chief of the Dharohar Bachao Sanrakshan Samiti, claimed that the shrines were constructed as part of a ‘conspiracy’ to take illegal possession of the college property under the pretext of the Waqf Act.
In a video shot from inside the campus, Sharma is seen appealing to the college administration to remove the shrines immediately. He has also warned of launching an agitation if no action is taken.
According to sources, the shrines are located near the pump house and water tank inside the college compound, which is surrounded by high boundary walls. However, it remained unclear who built the structures and when they were erected.
Efforts to reach the college administration for comment did not yield any response. College staff, including the principal, were reportedly not present on campus when contacted by India Today TV.
