Soham Parekh said he has joined an AI company exclusively after facing backlash from Silicon Valley for his moonlighting activities.

In his words, it was financial hardships that mainly pushed Parekh to work for multiple companies at once. Confessing he was not proud of what he has done, the infamous software engineer said he had to work multiple jobs to get out of the monetary situation he was in.

Talking to technology show TBPN, in his first interview since being caught moonlighting for at least five companies, Parekh said he did not employ a team of junior developers to help manage his responsibilities. “I wish I had the money.”

Parekh made headlines for all the reasons Playground AI founder Suhail Doshi took to X, warning other CEOs about his simultaneous employment. “There’s a guy named Soham Parekh (in India) who works at 3-4 startups at the same time. He’s been preying on YC companies and more. Beware, his post on X read. YC refers to San Francisco-based startup accelerator Y Combinator.

The consequences for Parekh were dire as firings followed. Several recruiters came forth, identifying him as someone they had recently interviewed or had received job applications from.

Later in the day, Parekh announced that he has exclusively joined Sanjit Juneja’s Darwin Studios as a founding engineer, where he will work on developing Wayve, an AI video remixing platform.

Juneja confirmed the appointment. “When I met @realsohamparekh, it was immediately clear he was a 10x engineer, someone who simply lives to build. After everything that happened yesterday, it became clear he now has something even greater to prove than just his love for software.”
Parekh holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Mumbai and a Master’s degree in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology.
