Paris, the city of love, has long been associated with its aesthetic streets and infrastructure. From the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre Museum, the capital city of France continues to captivate tourists from across the world. However, a recent video shared by Gracie, a Filipino travel vlogger based in Sydney, reveals a contrasting picture of Paris. It showed the filthy streets of Paris, littered with garbage and human waste in several corners.

The viral video has left travel enthusiasts stunned, igniting debates around cleanliness and increasing public apathy in major tourist destinations. A section of social media users also emphasised the hate Indians receive over cleanliness and civic sense.

“Look where you’re touching. Paris is breathtakingly beautiful! I mean I’ve been to Paris over 3 times and I keep falling in-love with it. The architecture, the history, the magic? It’s real. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say it also smells kinda funky, and the streets can be really dirty. Still worth the trip? Absolutely. Just… maybe don’t romanticize it too much,” Gracie captioned the video.

In no time, the video flared up, sparking a debate. “Ohh imagine the hate comments we’ll get if it was India,” a user commented. “Missing in this video: pickpocketssss pickpocket pickpockettt,” another user highlighted. “Yes Paris is beautiful but not that clean ! Look up to the sky and hope you don’t step on anything,” a third user reacted. “Every country has a good and bad side.. But they only defame India,” a fourth user chimed in.

Last month, a vox pop video of a travel vlogger asking foreigners to name what they considered the dirtiest country in the world surfaced on social media. In the video, several foreigners named India, sparking widespread debate.
